Arnold and Papa Win Gold at ECAC/IC4A Championships

Men's Track Racks Up 26 points and finishes seventh overall at George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va. – The UMBC men's track and field program returns home with a pair of ECAC Champions as Michael Arnold and Iosif Papa won the 400 hurdles and discus throw, respectively.

UMBC Overview:

UMBC as a collective team was magnificent, slotting seventh overall in a field of 38, scoring more points (26) than all except St. Joseph's (35.5), Coppin State (45), Lehigh (47), George Mason (70.5), Army (89), and Navy (154.5).
Senior Michael Arnold took home the ultimate prize, claiming the ECAC title in the 400 hurdles in a speed of 52.27 seconds.
Freshman Iosif Papa struck gold in the discus, launching it 52.27 meters for the victory.
Ibra Khairat narrowly missed out on a podium spot, earning fourth place with a triple jump distance of 14.63m.
Toren Burr competed twice and netted him a pair of top-ten finishes, collecting a point in the javelin (52.72m) while going for tenth during the hammer (53.61m).
Aiden Walker rounded out the Dawgs in the top-ten, doing so in the discus (46.12m)
The only personal-record to be broken was by Zachary Taylor regarding his 1,500m with a time of 3:52.20.
Shavar Staats found himself on the cusp of the single digits at 11th place, running the 100m dash in 10.82 seconds.
Completing the Black and Gold field was Jayo Adegboyo (400m - 49.41) and Marquis Miller (50.18), who competed in the 400 meter dash
