Men's Track & Field Faces a Tough Field at Dalton Ebanks Invitational

FAIRFAX, Va. – The UMBC men's track and field program is set to participate in the Dalton Ebanks Invitational on Friday and Saturday at George Mason.

Last Meet Recap (Towson Invitational):
  • Iosif Papa has quickly established himself as a rising star for the Dawgs, winning the discus with a throw of 51.83m
  • Nicolas Alphonse claimed gold in the 400 hurdles with the best time in the America East (53.92) while also coming in fourth for the 110 hurdles (14.75).
  • Ibrahim Khairat, Will Sakowicz, and Marquis Miller all earned second place finishes as Khairat went for 14.35m in the triple jump, Sakowicz ran a 10:11.73 in the 3,000m steeplechase, and Miller crossed the finish line in 49.10 seconds during the 400m.
  • Seun Olajide and Alexander Ianniello were bronze medalists, setting personal-records in the 100m at 10.83 and pole vault at 4.20m, respectively.
 
Last Time at The George Mason Invitational (2022):
  • Khairat was the lone gold winner with a 14.88m triple jump.
  • Toren Burr joined him with a pair of top-ten placements in the field, going for fifth in the javelin (60.01m) and tenth in the hammer throw (51.88m).
  • Two podium spots went to Retrievers on the track where Shavar Staats ran a 10.83 100m to take third while Michael Arnold captured the bronze as well for his 54.98-second 400 hurdles' effort.
  • Alphonse went for lucky number seventh in the 110 hurdles (14.93m) and Mack McKeever plus Daron Taylor went eight-ten during the 3,000m steeplechase with marks of 9:40.62 and 9:41.36.
  • Three of the four 4x400m relay team will attempt to improve on last season's fourth place slot, as Arnold, Jayo Adegboyo, and Miller are back after running the event in 3:18.27 last season.
