BALTIMORE –  The host UMBC Retrievers scored nine consecutive goals to erase a late first half deficit and went on to defeat the UMass Lowell River Hawks, 18-9, on Saturday afternoon at UMBC Stadium. The contest featured a second half weather delay that lasted two hours and fifty-seven minutes.

UMBC (7-5, 1-3 America East) senior attacker Claire Bockstie scored a game-high six goals for the second time this season and became just the third Retriever in program history to rack up 200 career points. In addition, she moved into a tie for third place (Carolyn Jamison '18) on the career goals' list with 156 markers.

Sophomore midfielder Katana Nelson and senior attacker Jenna McDermott also recorded hat tricks for the Retrievers, while junior attacker Dymin Gerow and graduate student attacker Lauren Cremen added a pair of goals.

Junior goalie Isabella Fontana made seven saves in goal while senior midfielder Megan Halczuk recorded a team-high nine draw controls.

How It Happened
-The visitors scored the opening two goals as Izzy Liquori and Jade Catlin tallied even strength goals.
-Sophomore attacker Kolby Weedon got UMBC on the board with a free position winner with 4:54 left in the period.
- Megan Brockbank scored an unassisted goal with 2:19 left to provide the River Hawks with a 3-1 advantage with 2:19 left, however, the Retrievers recorded a pair of woman-up goals to even the contest at the end of the first quarter. Bockstie found the back of the next after a feed from junior attacker Mary Ellis and then Gerow scored on a free position opportunity to knot the score.
-UMass Lowell went ahead yet again as Grace Hansen took a feed from Jade Catlin at the 14:09 mark of the second quarter, but UMBC scored two consecutive goals to take their first lead of the game, 5-4, with 12:28 left before the half. Bockstie scored an unassisted goal and then set-up the go-ahead tally as she fed senior McDermott for her first tally of the contest.
-The visitors then scored back-to-back goals to re-claim a 6-5 advantage. Brockbank scored an unassisted goal to even the game with 8:17 left and then Grace Hansen scored fifty-two seconds later off a helper from Molly Shaw.
- The Retrievers then went on a 9-0 run to take control of the contest. Nelson tied the game with an unassisted goal with 2:20 left before the half. Bockstie followed and gave UMBC the lead for good with an even strength tally just twenty-five ticks before intermission.
-UMBC scored the first three goals of the third quarters to grab a 10-6 advantage. McDermott scored the first two goals, the first on an assist by Gerow, and Nelson added the third just before the long delay.
-Following the delay, UMBC scored the first four goals to extend their lead to 14-6 with 2:57 left in the third quarter. Halczuk scored the first goal and Bockstie notched the next two.
-The visitors closed to within 14-8 with 12:31 left in the contest but were unable to get any closer as UMBC scored four of the final five goals to put the game out of reach.
