Biography

2024 (Senior):

  • Earned her second America East All-Academic Team honor of her career.
  • Named the America East Defensive Player of the Week (April 15).
  • Led the league in goals against average (9.97).
  • Was also 21st in the country in goals against average.
  • Finished fourth on the circuit in saves percentage (.426). 
  • Her 1.87 ground balls per game slotted seventh in the league.
  • Made 14 saves against Vermont, which tied for the sixth most in the conference.

2023 (Junior):

  • Started all 14 games in goal for the Retrievers.
  • Earned America East All-Academic Team honors.
  • Named the America East Defensive Player of the Week (February 13).
  • Led the America East in saves per game (9.50) and saves percentage (.455).
  • Finished third in the conference in goals against average (11.34).
  • Was 5th on the circuit with 2.29 ground balls per game.
  • Recorded a season-high 15 saves versus George Washington (2/11) and American (2/18).
  • Also reached double-figures in saves versus Bucknell (2/15), Robert Morris (3/4), and Binghamton (3/18), 

2022 (Sophomore):

  • Played in nine games making two starts in net for the Retrievers.
  • Made 53 saves (.525 pct) giving up 48 goals (9.90 GAA) with a 2-1 record.
  • Had 15 saves against American in a win and 12 save against Robert Morris also in a win.
  • Scooped up a season-best four ground balls against the Colonials.

2021 (Freshman):

  • Made four appearances in goal for the Retrievers.
  • Recorded eight saves on the season, with a season-high three against UAlbany (4/9) and Stony Brook (5/6).

Background:

  • Goalkeeper for Katie Triplin at Academy of Holy Cross.
  • Was a captain in her senior and junior years.
  • In her senior season, made 18 saves and a 58 save percentage against Holy Child.
  • As a junior, named WCAC Second-Team All-Met.
  • Member of the DC Highlight Under Armour All-American Team for two years.
  • Helped the Tartans to the semifinals as a junior.
  • Lettered four years in field hockey and ice hockey, three years being on varsity.
  • Member of the National Honors Society and Latin National Honor Society. 
  • Daughter of Gabrielle and Joe Fontana.
  • Has two sisters, Sofia and Mia.
  • Majoring in economics with career ambitions to own and run her own sleep away camp.
