BOSTON, Mass. – The UMBC women's track and field program nabbed 43 points and a trio of medals on Sunday, taking fifth place overall (61) ahead of Vermont (59), New Hampshire (43.5), Maine (39), and NJIT (16) at the 2023 America East Conference Indoor Championships.
UMass Lowell edged UAlbany to take the team title.
UMBC Overview:
- Freshman Leanne McDonald had another spectacular day, snatching a bronze medal with a PR in the 400m (56.04).She also finished fourth place in the 200m, recording another personal-record of 25.01.
- Sophomore Ava Roberts showed off her strength with one of the ladies' two silver medal showings, launching the shot put a distance of 14.02m, a personal-best.
- Senior Jasmine Holland was the third and final Retriever on the women's side to medal, earning runner-up status in the triple jump as she soared 12.49m.
- Freshman Lily Strelecki landed the final PR that resulted in points for UMBC, posting a new benchmark time of 2:19.73 in the 800m.
- Junior Savannah Wright (sixth) and sophomore Zy'Kayza Parsons (seventh) scored five combined points in the 60m dash, crossing the finish line milliseconds apart at 7.791 and 7.796, respectively.
- Senior Emmy Beyer competed in the top-ten for her 3,000m run, but did PR with a speed of 10:10.54.
