How it Happened:
- Cremen opened the scoring for the season 4:21 in on a player-down goal, and after GW tied, Mary Ellis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) gave the Retrievers a 2-1 lead before the hosts once again responded and tied it at two.
- Kolby Weedon (Catonsville, Md.) respond off the draw nine seconds on an assist from Kennedy Evans (Mt. Airy, Md.) to give UMBC the lead for good
- Bockstie scored on a free position just 35 seconds into the second to make it 4-2.
- Halczuk then scored two in a row to widen the lead to 6-2, but the Colonials would score three straight to trim the Retrievers lead to 6-5 with just under seven minutes left in the half
- Bockstie and Cremen would alternate a pair of goals each on a 4-0 run over the next 1:56 to make it 10-5 UMBC at the half
- GW scored the first goal of the second half, but Jenna McDermott (Westminster, Md.) and Halczuk scored free position goals within a 46 second span to make it 12-6
- McDermott and Halzuk would each score again as the Retrievers took a 14-8 lead into the final frame
- Dymin Gerow (Baltimore, Md.) and Katana Nelson (Hummelstown, Pa.) each scored their first goals in the fourth, while Cremen added two more and Bockstie score the final tally of the game.
Gerow joined Bockstie and Cremin with three ground balls each to lead the team.
