Women's Indoor Track & Field Opens 2023-24 Campaign at Navy Invitational

The UMBC women's and men's indoor track and field squads take their initial test of the 2023-24 season on Saturday, Dec. 2 when they competed in the 2023 Navy Indoor Invitational.

The meet gets underway at 9:00 a.m. at the Wesley A. Brown Field House. The Retrievers will face competition from the host Midshipmen, Maryland, Mount St. Mary's, William & Mary, Morgan State and Towson.

RETRIEVERS TO WATCH:
  • Caitlyn Bobb, Jr. – Bobb set a Navy Indoor Invitational record in the 400 meters in 2022, posting a mark of 54.78. 
  • Leanne McDonald, Soph. – McDonald earned a bronze medal with a personal record in the 400m (56.04 at the 2023 America East Championships. .She also finished fourth place in the 200m, recording another personal-record of 25.01. McDonald finished second in the 200 meters at the 2022 Navy Indoor Invitational (25.41).
  • Ava Roberts, Jr. – Roberts showed off her strength with one of the ladies' two silver medal showings, launching the shot put a distance of 14.02m, a personal-best, at the 2023 America East Championships.
The teams return to action on Saturday, Jan. 13 when they compete in the Nittany Lion Challenge at Penn State University.
