Women's Swimming and Diving

Women's Swimming & Diving Heads to VMI for Five-Team Meet

The Retrievers will see conference foes VMI and NJIT, along with UNCA and Howard in Lexington.

The UMBC women's and men's swimming and diving programs will get a trial run at the VMI Aquatic Center when they take on the Keydets, along with America East foe NJIT, UNC Asheville and Howard University on Saturday, Nov. 11 in Lexington, Va. The diving gets underway at 11:00 a.m., while the swimming competition will start no earlier than 1:00 p.m.  

The 2024 America East Swimming & Diving Championships move south to Lexington Feb. 14-17 as associate league member VMI hosts at the one-year old VMI Aquatic Center.

The Retrievers will return to the water after a week off from competition. They faced local rivals Johns Hopkins, Towson and Loyola-Maryland at the Thomas Murphy Invitational on Oct. 28-30

Sophomore Bruna de Padua earned a pair of trips to the podium, with a second-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle and a third-place showing in the 500 free. Sophomore Telma Maltesjö (200 yard breaststroke) and freshman diver Ember Stennett (3-meter diving) also brought silvers back to Hilltop Circle.  

The Retrievers return home on Saturday, Nov. 18 when they host Manhattan and St. Peter's on the annual Professor's Appreciation Day. The meet gets underway at 2:00 p.m.
