BALTIMORE – The UMBC women's lacrosse team welcomes Bucknell to the turf at UMBC Stadium on Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. The game was slated to be played in Lewisburg on Saturday, but was moved due to adverse winter weather conditions in the region.
Due to UMBC Stadium's construction project, there is no seating available in the stands. Fans are encouraged to bring their own chairs and sit on the track on the side opposite the team benches. Tickets will not be sold for this contest.
UMBC freshman attacker
Kolby Weedon (Catonsville, Md./Catonsville) netted a season high five goals, but visiting Towson broke open a tight game with a 5-0 second quarter run and prevailed, 19-12, in chilly conditions at Retriever Soccer Park on March 9.
Junior linemate
Claire Bockstie (Forest Hill, Md./Maryvale Prep) added four second half goals for the Retrievers.
Dawg Bites
- Bockstie is currently tied for eighth in the nation, averaging 4.2 goals per game and leads the Retrievers with 25 goals. She is also tied for 11th nationally with 5.33 points per game (33). Sophomore attacker Dymin Gerow is tied for 28th nationally with 4.5 points per game (19g, 8a) and is sixth with 1.67 free position goals scored per game.
- As a team, the Retrievers are ranked 23rd, scoring 14.33 goals per contest. They have outscored their foes, 20-5, on free position attempts, scoring on 50.0 percent, while allowing a mark of 23.8 percent.
A Look At The Bison
- The Bison enter Saturday's game with a current 3-2 season record after an 16-11 loss in their last game against Campbell University on March 7.
- Both the Bison and Camels started out strong in the first quarter, with the score being tied at 2-2. However, the Camels outscored BU, 5-2, in the second quarter and held the lead throughout the remainder of the game.
- Bucknell finished their 2021 season with an overall record of 3-6. Their season was cut short with a lot of games being canceled due to Covid-19.
- Senior attacker Laurel McHale led the way with three goals and two assists against the Camels. She leads BU on the season with 15 goals and 21 total points.
A Glance at the Series
- The last time these two faced off was on February 26, 2020 and the Retrievers prevailed, 13-9. Olivia Docal scored three goals and Megan Halczuk added a pair in the victory.
- UMBC leads the all-time series, 9-5. The squads have split the last six encounters.
