BALTIMORE– UMBC men's basketball returned to the win column on Wednesday with a gutsy 92-85 win at Hartford. UMBC led by as many as 18, but held off a late charge from the Hawks to earn the season sweep.
Darnell Rogers (Baltimore, Md./Indian Land (SC)/New Mexico JC) had a career-high 26 points to lead the charge.
The Retrievers will honor six seniors prior to the game. Rogers, Kenny Sumpter (Havre de Grace, Md./Havre de Grace/Harford CC), Keondre Kennedy (Atlanta, Ga.), L.J. Owens (Annapolis, Md./Severn School/William & Mary), Szymon Wojcik (Wroclaw, Poland), and Dimitrije Spasojevic (Vrsac, Serbia) will be honored starting at 12:40 p.m.

Scouting the Retrievers:
- The Retrievers return home for the final two regular season games with playoff seeding still on the line. UMBC is currently in a tie for second place with UAlbany at 9-7, and are just 1.5 games ahead of sixth. UMBC most recently defeated Hartford, 92-85 on Wednesday behind a career-high 26 points from Darnell Rogers.
- Kennedy leads the Retrievers on offense averaging 15.1 ppg and 5.0 rpg. He is shooting 50.3 percent from the floor and has hit double figures in the last 12 games with two 20 point and one 30 point game in the run.
- Rogers and Owens are also in double figures with Rogers chipping in 11.4 ppg and Owens adding 10.9 per game. Rogers is averaging 3.9 assists per game.
- Yaw Obeng-Mensah (Toronto, Ontario) leads the team on the glass at 5.6 rpg.
Scouting the Black Bears:
- The Black Bears come to Baltimore at 6-21, 3-13 AE on the year, most recently dropping a heartbreaking 72-68 loss against UAlbany on Wednesday. Maine had a chance to tie late, but could not convert en route to the loss.
- Vukasin Masic and Maks Klanjscek lead the Black Bears averaging 9.6 ppg each. Both are shooting over 35 percent from three with Klanjscek shooting 45.5 percent from the floor.
- Stephane Ingo leads the team on the boards, grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game.
All-Time Series:
- This will be the 38th all-time meeting and the second this season with the Retrievers holding a 23-14 lead in the series. UMBC has won 12 of the last 13 dating back to 2015, including an 88-46 win in Bangor in January.
- UMBC last lost to the Black Bears at home in 2012.

- UMBC sits 11th nationally in team free throw percentage at 78.2 going 359-459 from the charity stripe this season.
