Women's Basketball Travels to Houston for Wednesday Night Showdown

The UMBC Women's Basketball team plays the penultimate game of its month-long road trip when it heads to the Lone Star State to face Houston on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. EST, and fans can watch on ESPN+.

  • The hot start, on the back of a 52.9 percent shooting percentage from the field and the most first quarter points in a game this season, gave Houston a 20-17 lead through one quarter of play.
  • The Wildcats' length held the Cougars to a sub-20 percentage from the field in the second and third quarters as they opened up a 55-37 lead through three periods
  • Junior Laila Blair led Houston with 16 points, her seventh-straight game in double-digits, and second time leading the team in scoring this season.
  • Even though the Cougars made more shots from the field than the Wildcats, 24-21, Kansas State (8-1) shot more than double the amount of free throw attempts as Houston in the game, 31-13, and made more than double as well, 26-7
