BOSTON - After a standout rookie campaign, UMBC sophomore Heidi Williams was named to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team earlier today. 

Williams, a native of Prince George's County, Md., played in all 32 games as a freshman, making 20 starts for the Retrievers. In her historic opening season, Williams was named to the America East All-Rookie Team and was named America East Rookie of the Week six times. Her six America East Rookie of the Week honors tied Sara Tarbert for the most in program history. 

In her first season, Williams averaged 9.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. Williams reached double figures in 15 games, setting a career-high with 22 points on January 24 versus UMass Lowell. She recorded three double-doubles on the season, logging them against Notre Dame (Md.), and twice versus UAlbany. 

Overall, Williams scored the seventh-most points, nabbed the fourth-most steals, and made the seventh-most field goals in UMBC freshman history. 

Williams and the Retrievers open up the 2026-27 season on November 2 versus Stevenson.
