East Meadow, N.Y. – The UMBC men's swimming and diving team took a huge step in trying to defend their ECAC Winter Championship.
The Retrievers won five of the six events on today's card and set meet records in three of those competitions.
"The men picked up right where we left off last December," said Head Coach
Matt Donovan. "It's great to see all of their hard work and dedication come together at the right time. This is going to be a fun meet to watch. Get your popcorn ready."
Freshman
Anders Logas continued his outstanding initial campaign as he won the 3-meter diving competition with a strong effort of 263.40 points.
UMBC's 200 freestyle relay squad got the swimming portion off on a high note as juniors

Christian Coleman and graduate student
Tiago Asakawa posted a meet record time of 1:20.73.
Senior
Niklas Weigelt showed his prowess in the 500 freestyle, touching the wall in a meet record time of 4:28.53.
The Retrievers took the top three spots in the 200 individual medley. Nicusan won gold, followed by graduate student
Jimmy Dwyer and junior
Max Trias.
The 400 medley relay quartet of junior
Ryan Harding, Trias, sophomore
Oliver Gassmann, and Weigelt capped the evening by cruising to victory in a meet record mark of 3:18.87.
