The UMBC women's swimming and diving squad will open the 2022-23 campaign by taking on the University of Delaware and Johns Hopkins University on Saturday, Oct. 8 at Rawstrom Natatorium in Newark, Del. The double-dual meets get underway at 11:00 a.m. and live results will be available on the Meet Manager app.
RETRIEVERS TO WATCH
- Graduate student Caroline Sargent earned America East Most Outstanding Swimmer honors at the 2022 league championships. She set a league record while capturing the 200 backstroke and also earned her second selection to the league's All-Academic Team.
- Senior Sierra Tosten earned three golds at the 2022 America East Championships, including an individual gold in the 100 yard butterfly.
- Sophomore Loujy Abdellatif earned Rookie of the Meet honors at the league champions, earning a bronze in the 100 yard butterfly.
- Seniors Susie Cadigan and Celeste Koerwitz, along with Sargent are the 2022-23 team captains.
WE MEET AGAIN
The same three squads competed at the UMBC Aquatics Complex on Oct. 2, 2021.
The women defeated Johns Hopkins, 157.5-122.5, but fell to the Blue Hens, 171-129. Sargent won the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.79.
UP NEXT
Both teams head to conference rival NJIT for a meet on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14-15. The men will face the host Highlanders and St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers, while the women take on America East foe Vermont, along with the Terriers.
