BALTIMORE-- UMBC women's soccer hung tough with the Hawks over the first 60 minutes, but Hartford picked up a win on Sunday with a pair of second-half goals. UMBC (4-3-2) mustered just four shots in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Hartford came out of the gates getting a pair of shots on goal within the first two minutes, but Morgan McGruder (Overland Park, Kan.) was up to the task.

  • UMBC had their best chance of the first half in the 9th minute when Izzy Binko (Selbyville, Del.) put a shot on target from the left side but the shot was denied.

  • Esther Juretzka (Bonn, Germany) would have a golden opportunity late in the half, but it would sail high as we would head to the half scoreless.

  • Hartford broke through in the 65th minute, with Jordyn Ferraro heading home a corner kick to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.

  • The Hawks would add to that advantage late with a goal in the 87th minute to give them a 2-0 win on Sunday.
