STRAIGHT FACTS

The Retrievers opened the game on a three-goal run, starting with a quick-shot from freshman Dymin Gerow (Baltimore, Md./Episocopal) off a feed from Lily Kennedy (Marriotsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) just 39 seconds into the game.

Seniors Olivia Docal (Glenwood, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) and Courtney Renehan (Mt. Airy, Md./Glenelg/Maryland) followed up to help give UMBC the early lead with a little under five minutes off the clock.

UMass Lowell got on the board with 19:12 to play before Renehan added her second of the day off a pass from graduate student Katie Schluederburg (Elkridge, Md./Howard/Penn State) to make it a 4-1 advantage for UMBC.

However, the River Hawks went on a five-goal scoring spurt, including a man-up goal and three-straight from Izzy Liquori to give UMass Lowell a 6-4 lead with 7:25 to play in the first period.

Docal ended the scoring run with 16 seconds on the clock on a free-position shot. Nine seconds later, sophomore Claire Bockstie (Forest Hill, Md./Maryvale Preparatory) tied the game up at 6-6 on a man-up goal, with an assist from Renehan.

Out of halftime, sophomore Megan Halczuk (Fawn Grove, Pa.) netted her first of the day to put the Retrievers up, 7-6, 46 seconds into the second half.

The teams traded goals, with the River Hawks evening the score up at 7-7 before Gerow scored from the eight-meter mark. UMass Lowell once again tied the game up, 8-8, with 24:04 to play, but UMBC used a six-goal scoring run to take the lead.

Bockstie started the run at the 22:52 mark on a free position shot before assisting on a Halczuk goal to give UMBC a 10-8 lead.

With 13:43 to play, Docal added her third of the day and second from the eight-meter to push the Retrievers up, 11-8, before Renahan collected her hat trick at the 11:47 mark.

44 seconds after Renahan's goal, Gerow netted her third of the day to put the Retrievers up by five, before Bockstie scored the last in the run to give UMBC a 14-8 advantage with 9:58 to play.

The teams went back and forth on scoring, with Docal and Bockstie scoring the final two goals for the Retrievers during the last eight minutes of play.
