Box Score BALTIMORE - The UMBC women's lacrosse team outscored the #5 Stony Brook Seawolves, 7-6, in the second half of Friday night's contest but ultimately fell, 15-8, to the reigning conference champions.

Stony Brook moves to 3-2 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. UMBC falls to 1-2 on the year and 0-1 in America East contests.
STRAIGHT FACTS
Stony Brook took control in the first half, scoring the first six goals of the game before Dymin Gerow (Baltimore, Md./Episcopal) put UMBC on the board with 6:47 remaining to play.
The Seawolves scored another three goals to take a 9-1 lead at the end of the first half.
UMBC was first on the board in the second half, as Claire Bockstie (Forest Hill, Md./Maryvale Preparatory) fed a ball to Megan Halczuk (Fawn Grove, Pa.) on a man-down opportunity to cut Stony Brook's lead to 9-2 with 28:27 to play.
The Seawolves added another goal to the board 20 seconds later, but Bockstie gave the Retrievers one right back off a shot from the eight-meter to bring the deficit to seven, 10-3, with 26:57 to play.
Stony Brook scored four straight to take a 10-goal lead at the 16:29 mark of the second period, but UMBC outscored the Seawolves, 5-1, over the final 13 minutes of the game.
Halczuk netted her second of the game off a pass from Lily Kennedy (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) before Bockstie made it 14-5 with 6:58 to play.
Courtney Renehan (Mt. Airy, Md./Glenelg/Maryland) scored on another free position shot for the Retrievers, cutting Stony Brook's lead to just eight, 14-6, with 5:50 to play.
The Seawolves scored one more goal before Olivia Docal (Woodbine, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) and Gerow scored in the final minute for the Retrievers.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
14 - the season-high number of saves goalkeeper Lexi Roberts (Baldwin, Md./Fallston/Army West Point) made during the night, to go along with five ground balls.
