The UMBC men's soccer squad (6-6-1, 1-3-0 America East) kicks off the second half of the league schedule when they welcome Binghamton (7-3-1, 2-1-0) to Retriever Soccer Park on Wednesday, Oct. 13. The opening kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast on the America East Digital Network.
UMBC controlled the majority of the first 60 minutes of play and took an early second half 1-0 lead, but Stony Brook rallied to defeat the Retrievers, 3-1, before a boisterous Homecoming crowd of 1,566 at Retriever Soccer Park on Saturday.
Sophomore midfielder Jago Lott (Somerset, U.K.) scored his second goal of the season on a direct kick from the left wing in the 48' to put the Retrievers in front. But SBU tied the game in the 61' and a pair of outstanding strikes by Aki Solvason in the 71' and 81' completed the visitors' comeback.
After opening with a convincing 3-0 America East win over Hartford, the Retrievers have dropped three straight, scoring one goal apiece in those setbacks.
