FULL RESULTS
State College, Pa.-- UMBC track and field concluded the Penn State National Open in grand fashion with Trenson Terry re-breaking his own school record in the long jump. Terry broke the record earlier this year at the TCNJ Indoor Open in early December.
Terry reset the record with his jump of 7.36m to earn second-place in the event, besting his mark of 7.33m at the TCNJ Open. Also in the field, Divinus Mutba took 18th in the high jump (1.96m) and Maurice Johnson finished 23rd in the shot put (14.42m).
On the track, Taylor Baranoski earned gold in the 1,000m to pace the male runners. He finished the race in 2:30.89. Joel Evans earned a top ten finish in the event, taking seventh in 2:33.35. Parker Tewell, Mark Unger and Brian Nelson also finished in the top ten in their respective events. Tewell finished ninth in the 600m (1:24.70), Unger taking ninth in the mile (4:18.59) and Nelson finishing tenth in the 200m (22.16).
Bridgett Redding had the best individual finish on the women's side, taking fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:13.53.Collese Daley and Morgan Casey turned in seventh place finishes in the 300m and 1,000m invite respectively. Daley finished in a time of 40.47 with Casey finishing in 2:58.38.
Ariella Garcia, Melissa Kameka and Kaya Knake also had top times on Saturday. Garcia and Kameka finished tenth in the 800m and 600m with times of 2:13.53 and 1:37.23 with Knake taking 12th in the 800m invite in 2:11.63.
The 4x400m relay team of Collese Daley, Kaya Knake, Ariella Garcia and Ayanna Johnson finished sixth in a time of 3:51.72 to round out the meet.
The Retrievers will return to Staten Island next Friday for the UAlbany Winter Classic at the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Center.
