BALTIMORE - After returning from the 2019 America East Championships with a pair of trophies, select members of the UMBC swimming and diving teams will participate at the ECAC Championships. This year's championships will take place at LeJeune Hall on the campus of the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland from March 1-3.

Last Time Out: 2019 America East Championships
The UMBC men's and women's swimming and diving teams both took home the America East swimming and diving championships, the first time that both teams have won titles since the 2010-11 season. The men defended their crown with 1113.5 points, the most ever by a team, while the women reclaimed the crown with 894.5 points.
Overall, the teams won 68 medals, including 30 gold medals, and broke nine America East and/or UMBC records while at the event. Eight of UMBC's gold medals were won during relay races.
Seniors Alexander Gliese and Hania Moro took home the Dave Alexander Coaches' Awards, which are given to seniors who earn the most points over the meet. Gliese was also named the Most Outstanding Male Swimmer after he broke the America East records, as well as school marks, in the 100 and 200 back, earning gold in both events as well as the 200 IM.
Moro earned gold in the 1650 free, where she broke a school record, and took home silver in the 200 and 500 free. She was also a member of the 800 free relay team that earned a gold medal.
Elijah Wright was named the meet's Most Outstanding Male Diver after earning gold in both the 1- and 3-meter dives.
Freshmen Matt Bennici and Luka Zuric shared the Outstanding Male Rookie of the Year award; Bennici earned bronze in the 500 and 1650 free while taking silver in the 100 fly, while Zuric earned silver in the 200 free and bronze in the 100 and 200 back.
Chad Cradock and his coaching staff earned both men and women's coaching staff of the year honors.
For the second year in the row, Connor Ganley earned the Elite 18 award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the championship site. Ganley holds a 3.97 GPA as a chemical engineering major.
