Box Score Durham, N.H.— UMBC men's soccer dropped the season opener at New Hampshire, 1-0 on Saturday night. The Wildcats scored in the seventh minute to take the lead, holding the Retrievers to just two shots in the match.
How We Got Here:
- The Wildcats got out to an early 1-0 lead in the seventh minute. Jack Doherty slotted home a rebound off the post to put the home team in front early.
- The Retrievers were held without a shot over the first 45 minutes, with New Hampshire controlling play.
- Ciaran O'Loughlin (Birkenhead, England) had a pair of back-to-back saves in the half, both from point blank range.
- UMBC got their first shot of the night in the 54th minute, with senior Patrick Jean-Gilles (Woodbridge, Va.) placing his attempt just wide of the cage.
