BALTIMORE - UMBC men's soccer versus UNCW was deemed a no contest on Thursday afternoon.
The game entered a 30-minute lightning delay with 21:23 remaining in the contest. After returning to the field, the teams played for another 14 minutes before a second delay sent them back to the locker rooms. Due to the continued strikes within the area, the three-hour window from the time of the first delay had passed, forcing an official halt to the contest.Â
Per Rule 7.7.4 (Suspended Game -- Completed Game), the game is marked as a no contest.Â
Rule 7.7.4
Games that have progressed to 70 minutes or beyond with a margin of three (3) or more goals will be considered final if the game is suspended and cannot be resumed the same day. If the margin is less than three (3) goals after 70 minutes or the game has not progressed to 70 minutes, the game will either be resumed at a later date or considered a no contest.Â
UMBC will take the field on Sunday evening at 6 p.m. to take on Loyola in the inaugural Blake Elliott Cup match.Â
