BALTIMORE - Senior Wren Aye (Columbia, Md./St. John's College) knocked in the game-winning goal in the 86th minute to seal UMBC women's soccer 3-2 comeback victory over the Maine Black Bears on Sunday afternoon.  

STRAIGHT FACTS

• Maine looked to score early, as Emilie Andersen sent a shot on goal that Jade Wilkins (Stoney Beach, Md./The Catholic High School) was able to save.

• The Black Bears scored first in the 42nd minute after Emma Donovan sent a pass directly in front of the net to Saylor Clark.

• Christina Corbi (Medford, N.J.) looked to tie the game up as time wound down in the first half, but Maine's Annalena Kriebisch kept the ball out of the net.

• Priscilla Domingo gave the Black Bears a 2-0 lead early in the second half as she netted a pass from Clark in the 47th minute.

• Erin Stevenson (Sellersville, Pa.) sent a shot towards the net in the 60th minute, but Kriebisch was there to knock the shot down.

• Stevenson would out the Retrievers on the board in the 71st minute after being awarded a penalty kick.

• In the 83rd minute, Danielle Fuentes (Rockville, Md./Magruder) collected the ball at her feet and drove through defenders to send a ball into the upper 90, tying the game up at 2-2.

• Aye would net the game-winner in the 86th minute after she collected a previously saved shot and sent it into the lower corner of the goal.

• Maine looked to net an equalizer in the last minutes of the game, but Clark's attempt was blocked and Hannah Bamford's shot sailed high over the goal.

FOR THE RECORD

• UMBC picks up its first win in America East play and finishes the season at 1-7-0 and 2-15-0 overall. Maine finishes the season at 2-6-0 in conference play and 6-9-1 overall.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• UMBC held a slight 14-12 shot advantage against Maine, but the Black Bears out-shot the Retrievers, 8-7, on goal.

• Stevenson converted her second penalty kick opportunity of the season; her first was the lone goal in UMBC's 2-1 loss at Loyola (Md.) in September.

MINDING THE NET

• Mikayla Krinetz (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) earned her first win of the season after playing almost 20 minutes in goal. Wilkins made six saves in the game in the other 70 minutes. Kriebisch finished the day with four saves between the pipes for Maine.
