Volleyball Starts Second Half of Conference Play at Stony Brook on Friday Night

 

The UMBC Volleyball team (13-5, 4-2) will continue its four-match road trip on Friday at Stony Brook. First serve is set for 7 p.m. and can be watched on the America East Digital network.

Earlier this week, Sophomore Claudia Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) was named setter of the week for the third time this season.

Lopez led the league with 11.75 assists per set, helping the Retrievers to a league- best .227 hitting percentage. She registered 59 assists in a win over Hartford, tying a school record.

Scouting the Seawolves: Stony Brook (5-14,2-4) comes into the match after a five-set loss at Hartford last Saturday. McKyla Brooks leads the Seawolves on offense and defense, averaging 3.04 kills per set (208 total) on a .300 hitting percentage and recording 45 blocks with an average of .57 blocks per set. Morgan Kath is the team leader in assists, averaging 9.31 assist per set (698 total). Leading the Stony Brook defense in digs is Kardasia Hitchcock, averaging 2.78 digs per set (203 total).
