Dobbs Dominates as Dawgs Defeat Bryant

Smithfield, R.I. -- Hannah Dobbs had 16 kills on .368 hitting with only two errors to lead the UMBC Volleyball team to a four set win over host Bryant (22-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-13) on Sunday to move into first place in the America East. 

Dobbs, who also added eight digs two blocks and an ace in the victory, was joined in double-digit kills by Jalynn Brown (10 kills). Helen Frankovich was nearly flawless on the say, as she tallied seven kills on .538 hitting with no errors and three blocks. Brown filled the stats sheet as well, finishing with seven digs, three blocks and two aces on the day.

Hannah Howard continued her outstanding play at libero, accumulating a match-high 22 digs and adding three assists in the win. Serin Maden's service game continues to fluster opponents as the senior tallied five aces to go with her 25 assists.

Coming off a massive match on Wednesday, sophomore Laura Fuehrer had a match-best five blocks (two solo) to go with four kills, while classmate Claudia Llamas was everywhere on the court as she finished with eight kills, three digs, two aces, a block and an assist.

Izzy Ostvig added 16 assists, three kills (no errors), three blocks and three digs, and Ella McAllister came off the bench for five digs as a defensive specialist. Molly Penn finished with an ace and a dig as well.

UMBC returns to The Peake for its final home weekend of the regular season as it hosts NJIT on Friday night at 5 p.m. and New Hampshire on Sunday at 1 p.m. Friday night will be Senior Night as the Dawgs will honor Serin Maden prior to the match
