Fuehrer's Career Night Helps Volleyball Snap Coppin State's 10-Match Winning Streak

BALTIMORE -- Laura Fuehrer dominated the final two sets en route to a career-high 19-kill (.516 hitting) performance as the UMBC Volleyball team snapped host Coppin State's 10-match winning streak in five sets (25-27, 25-19, 23-25, 25-13, 15-3) on Wednesday night.

Fuehrer was a perfect 4-for-4 in the final set and 6-of-10 (with no errors) in the final to sets to lead the rally. Jalynn Brown was 3-for-3 in the final set as UMBC hit a perfect 1.000 on seven attacks in the dominating fifth set performance. 

Brown was second on the team with 18 kills and added six digs and four aces. Helen Frankovich tallied seven kills on .500 hitting with just one error and a match-best six blocks. Two Retrievers had double-doubles as Serin Maden had 28 assists and 11 digs, while Hannah Dobbs added 10 kills and 12 digs. 

Izzy Ostvig had 22 assists, three digs, and three kills, and Hannah Howard had a team-best 16 digs. Classmate Claudia Llamas tallied five digs and four blocks.

Ella McAllister chipped in with three digs, while Ema Djordjevic added an ace and an assist.

The Retrievers travel to Rhode Island for a big America East match at Bryant on Sunday at 1 p.m.
