Durham, N.H.—­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Junior guard Chris De La Rosa scored 23 points, but host New Hampshire scored a season-high 80 points and snapped UMBC's two-game winning streak with an 80-60 victory at Lundholm Gymnasium.

The Wildcats hit 14 of 27 shots from behind the arc and 26 of 49 overall (53 percent). UMBC converted only 20 of 58 shots (34 percent) from the floor.

De La Rosa was the only Retriever in double figures and added seven assists and three steals.

The Wildcats hit 8 of 14 shots from behind the arc in the first 20 minutes and led, 38-29 ­­­­­at the break. After Laurence Jolicoeur's three-point play tied the game at 26-all with 4:53 to play in the stanza, UNH went on a 12-0 run before De La Rosa's halfcourt shot –­­­­­­­­­swished just before the halftime horn.

UMBC only got as close as eight points early in the second half and only trailed, 52-42, with 11:56 to play. But a 12-2 Wildcat run over the next three and a half minutes gave the Wildcats a comfortable 64-44 lead with 8:27 remaining.

Senior guard Tyrone Conley led the Wildcats with 22 points, hitting six of 11 shots from behind the arc. Sophomore guard Chandler Rhoads hit all four three-point attempts and had 15 points, while junior post Brian Benson added 15 points and 16 rebounds.

UNH (8-11, 2-5 America East) came into the contest averaging just 54.8 points per game in six prior league games.

UMBC (3-17, 2-5) finishes the first half of the conference season when they return home to face Albany on Wednesday.
