BALTIMORE—A record crowd of 2,781 packed UMBC Stadium, but the visiting Boston University Terriers defeated UMBC, 2-0, in an America East Conference men's soccer contest.

UMBC's previous record high was 1,505 fans who attended UMBC's home match vs. Loyola in 2009.

The Terriers' senior midfielder Ben Havey, who scored the game-winning goal in the 37^thminute and assisted on Ryan Shea's insurance goal in the 48^th minute, was Boston's America East Player of the Game. UMBC freshman forward Pete Caringi III (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall), who led UMBC with three shots, was the Retrievers' Player of the Game.

UMBC's (6-4-3, 1-1-2 America East) four-game unbeaten streak was halted, while the Terriers (9-3-1, 4-0-0) have now won six straight games.

The Retrievers took five of the game's first six shots, coming the closest to breaking through when junior midfielder Nirav Kadam's (Germantown, Md./Northwest/UNCG) shot in the 23^rdminute was cleared off the goal line by a Terrier defender.

But the momentum shifted when Caringi went to the sidelines with an injury. The Terriers took full advantage when forward Stephen Knox' shot was stopped by UMBC junior netminder Dan Louisignau (Wilmington, Del./Concord/U. Virginia),but the long rebound came to Havey, who calmly buried a 14-yard shot into the upper right corner.

Just 2:26 into the second half, Boston made it 2-0 as Havey led senior midfielder Ryan Shea down the left wing and his shot from 16 yards beat a charging Louisignau and settled inside the far post.

UMBC possessed the ball, but could not break through a stingy Terrier defense. The Retrievers did not manage a shot for 55 minutes, until a Caringi header was again halted by a Boston defender in the 78^th minute.

Louisignau made two saves, but suffered his first loss (3-1-2) as a Retriever. Terrier goalkeeper Brandon Briggs also made two saves for the visitors. Boston U. outshot, UMBC, 14-8.

UMBC plays its final non conference contest of the year at Penn State on Oct. 20.
