Women's Soccer Wraps Up Season With 5-0 Loss at Boston U.

The UMBC women's soccer team (2-14-1, 1-7-0 AE) dropped a 5-0 decision to America East regular-season champion Boston University (12-5-2, 7-1-0 AE) Sunday afternoon in the season finale at Nickerson Field.

Boston forward Taleen Dimirdjian put the Terriers on the board in the 15th minute, heading home a perfectly placed cross from defender Mikaela Hansen on the left side. Three minutes later, forward Farrell McLernon converted a pass from midfielder Brittany Heist and slotted the ball into the far side of the net to give the hosts a 2-0 lead, then midfielder Emily Pallotta maneuvered through the UMBC defense to make it a three-goal game at 21:49. Defender Casey Brown was credited with the assist.

The Retriever defense came up big in the final minute of the first half, making a pair of goal-line saves to prevent the Terriers from adding to their lead, which remained 3-0 at intermission.

In the second half, BU forward Adrienne Anderson's header was going straight for the upper part of the net, but UMBC freshman goalie Jaclyn Drummond (Burnaby, British Columbia/Burnaby North) made a spectacular save, pushing the ball just over the crossbar.

Heist recorded BU's fourth goal, nailing a strike into the lower right corner of the net late at 71:59. Six minutes later, midfielder Jessica Luscinski rocketed a shot from 20 yards out. Anderson picked up the assist on the final goal of the game.

With less than eight minutes remaining, midfielder Krista Minto put a hart shot on target, but Drummond again came up with a big stop. Playing in just her second game, Drummond made a career-high six saves in the second half, while sophomore Mo Van Vlerah (Ijamsville, Md./Northwest) stopped three shots in the first stanza. BU keeper Janie Reilly was not forced to make a save in 90 minutes, as the Terriers outshot the Retrievers, 31-0, in the game.
