BALTIMORE-- The UMBC volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak with a straight-set victory at Morgan State Thursday night. The win improved the Retrievers to 10-6 on the season, while the Bears dropped to 1-16.
The Retrievers controlled the entire match, holding the Bears to a .051 hitting percentage. UMBC only committed 12 errors in the 25-14, 25-16, 25-18 win.
Sophomore Bridget Scheetz (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline Academy) hit .462 to lead the Retrievers with seven kills against only one errors, while freshman Alyssa Lang (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) had a game-high 14 kills.
Junior Sarah Ball (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada/Sisler) led UMBC with 14 digs and added four kills and junior Ashley Oscars (Bakersfield, Calif./Liberty) earned nine kills with seven digs.
The Retrievers return to action Friday, Oct. 3 when they open America East play against New Hampshire at the RAC at 7 p.m.
