—Coming off a big 1-0 victory over Maine on Sunday in the America East Conference opener, the UMBC women's soccer team (2-9-0, 1-0-0 AEC) will look to maintain the momentum when it hosts another league rival, Binghamton (4-4-1, 0-1-0 AEC) on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at UMBC Soccer Stadium.

Last Time Out: The Retrievers snapped their five-game losing streak with the 1-0 win over the Black Bears. Late in the 61st minute, freshman midfielder Danielle Kell (Willards, Md./Parkside) collected a free kick from sophomore back Christine Sadowski (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) and fired it into the lower-right corner of the net for her first career goal and what would eventually be the game-winning tally. Senior goalie Christine Bacinski (Hampstead, Md./Mount de Sales) recorded three saves in her second shutout of the season.

Bearcat Bites: Binghamton is 4-4-1 on the season and coming off a 3-2 loss to America East rival New Hampshire on Sunday. Back Dani Raske leads the Bearcats with four goals and a conference-best 11 points, while midfielder Amanda Casares is tops on the team and in the league with five assists. Goalie Jen McEachron has played every minute in net for the Bearcats and has posted a 1.07 goals-against average and an .811 save percentage. Binghamton was picked to finish sixth in the America East preseason poll. The Bearcats lead the conference in goals scored on the season with 13.

Last Time vs. Binghamton: The Bearcats topped the Retrievers, 3-1, last October in Vestal, N.Y. Binghamton forward Danielle White scored twice and added an assist. UMBC forward Morgan Warrington (Magnolia, Del./St. Thomas Moore Prep) scored the Retrievers' lone goal off a cross from forward Michelle Worrest (Germantown, Md./Northwest). Bacinski and classmate Catie Bukowski (Odenton, Md./Arundel/South Carolina) shared time in net, with Bacinski recording four saves and Bukowski making two. The Bearcats outshot the Retrievers, 18-8.

UMBC vs. Binghamton All-Time: The Bearcats hold a 4-0-2 all-time lead in the series, which dates to 2003 when the Retrievers joined the America East. Binghamton has won the last three meetings between the two teams, including a 2-1 overtime victory in the America East quarterfinals in 2005.

Goose Eggs: Bacinski has recorded two shutouts this season and now has four in her career. Her first blanking occurred on Sept. 12 against Sacred Heart and was her first shutout since Sept. 9, 2005. That game was the first UMBC shutout since Sept. 12, 2007 against Howard and the first solo shutout for a Retriever keeper since Bukowski blanked Albany on Oct. 9, 2005. With the shutout of Maine, it marks the first time one goalie has been credited with more than one solo shutout since 2005. UMBC has not allowed a goal in either of its wins this season, marking the first time the Retrievers have recorded more than one shutout in a season since 2006.

Kell Honored: Kell was named America East Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday after scoring the game-winning goal against the Black Bears. She becomes the third Retriever in the last two seasons to garner the nod, as teammates Warrington and Ashley Singer (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood) both earned the accolade last season.

Super Soph: Warrington has scored two of UMBC's three goals on the season, including the game-winner in the Retrievers' first victory of the season, a 1-0 decision over Sacred Heart on Sept. 12. Warrington also leads UMBC with 14 shots on the season. The 2008 America East All-Rookie Team selection now has five goals and 11 points in her young career.

First Time for Everything: The Retrievers' victory over Maine on Thursday was their first-ever win over the Black Bears in seven meetings. It also marked UMBC's first triumph in a conference opener since joining the America East in 2003.

America East Ranks: Freshman goalie Mo Van Vlerah (Boyds, Md./Northwest) is tied for fourth in the America East with 5.8 saves per game, while Bacinski ranks eighth with 5.33. Bacinski also ranks sixth in the league in shutouts (2) and 10th in save percentage (.727) and saves (32). As a team, the Retrievers rank fifth in the conference in saves (74) and sixth in shutouts (2).
