MEN'S SOCCER EDGED, 2-1, ON NEW HAMPSHIRE LATE GOAL

DURHAM, N.H. -  Ross Fishbain scored on a rebound with 11 minutes left in the second half to give the UNH men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over the UMBC Retrievers Wednesday afternoon at Lewis Field.

The Retrievers have dropped four straight games since opening the season at 4-0-1. They will play their first home game since September 22 when they entertain conference rival Vermont on Saturday. Four of UMBC's final six conference games will be at home.

Matt Low made a sliding crossing pass into UMBC's box, which Kyle Genereux received before attempting a point-blank  shot. After UMBC goalie Andy Marchica made the initial save, Fishbain came on to gobble up the rebound and give the Wildcats the winning tally.

The Wildcats (2-2-5, 1-0-2 America East) took the early lead in the first half thanks to solid teamwork and a fortunate bounce. In the 35th minute, Geoff Sanford rushed the ball up the field and sent a pass intended for Eric Masi. The pass deflected off a couple of UMBC defenders before Masi corralled it and sent the ball into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.

UMBC (4-4-1, 0-3-0 America East) tied the game in the second half when Matt Watson sent a long ball into the box, where David Feazell was waiting. Feazell chipped the shot around UNH goalie Brian Levey and into the net to tie the game.

Both teams had chances to take the lead, especially in the second half. Each team earned seven shots in the second half, several of them just missing the back of the net. Levey made two saves in the game while Marchica stopped three UNH shots in the contest. Each team's defense was also credited with a save, protecting their goalkeepers in the process.
