BOSTON - UMBC junior goalie Billy Stephens was named America East Goalkeeper of the Week after an outstanding showing in a reserve role in Friday's 9-8 double overtime victory over Bucknell to close out the regular season with a fifth straight victory. 

Stephens checked into the contest at the start of the fourth quarter with the Retrievers trailing 8-7. Stephens made six fourth-quarter saves, including two just one minute after Than Souza tied the contest at 8-8 with 4:47 remaining. Stephens also made a save with 27 seconds remaining to force overtime. Stephens made three saves in the first four-minute overtime period to force a second OT period, where UMBC won the contest with a Braden Smith goal with 2:22 on the clock. 

Stephens' nine saves are a career-high despite just over 20 minutes of game time. 

UMBC will take on top-seeded UAlbany in the America East Playoffs on Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
