PHILADELPHIA - Day two proved successful for the UMBC women's outdoor track & field program with a number of strong performances.
The top performance came from the 4x400 relay team as the group of
Lily Bandy,
Leanne McDonald,
Dalyce Schmidt, and
Anna Creel combined to break an 11-year-old program record with a time of 3:38.25. The relay team finished 14th in the event, as the group broke a record set in 2015, with the previous record time sitting at 3:39.07.
Enazajah Young qualified for Saturday's 100-meter hurdle finals, placing fifth in the event with a time of 13.45, just barely missing her program record time of 13.44. Young will compete in the championship event at 3:20 p.m. tomorrow.
Young also ran the 4x100 with Bandy,
Charliana Dacosta, and Creel, finishing 22nd with a time of 46.32.
The distance medley relay group of
Lydia Nelson,
Faith Akinlami,
Emily Mitroka, and
Micah Haskins clocked the fastest time since at least 2010 in the DMR, finishing in 11:56.01.
The final relay group to compete today for UMBC, the 4x200, placed 19th with a time of 1:39.64 ran by
Jayda Solomon,
Miyana Johnson,
Madisyn Bobb, and
Winter Evans.
Evans also competed in the high jump, finishing 27th with a 1.60-meter jump.
Chia Nwankwo finished 25th in the shot put with a 12.91-meter throw.
