Five Named to CSC Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-District Team

Five members of the UMBC Track & Field and Cross Country programs, Lyna Beraich, Charliana Dacosta, Leanne McDonald, Dalyce Schmidt and Lily Strelecki, were named to the College Sports Communicators 2026 All-District Academic Team, recognizing excellence in competition and in the classroom.

Beraich, the America East Indoor Mile champion, has a 3.68 GPA in Computer Science, while Dacosta, a silver medalist in the 4x100 relay at the America East Outdoor Championships is an Emergency and Disaster Health Systems major with a 3.56 GPA.

Strelecki, won America East Championship silver medals this past year in the Indoor Distance Medley Relay and the outdoor 4x800 relay has a 3.71 GP in Psychology.

McDonald won gold in both the Indoor and Outdoor 4x400 Relays at America East Championships, earned silver in both the Indoor and Outdoor 400 and was an America East All-Academic team selection in Indoor track, has a 3.54 GPA in Psychology. Schmidt also won gold in both the Indoor and Outdoor 4x400 Relays, as well as a bronze in the Indoor 400, at America East Championships is a Political Science major with a 3.74 GPA.
