Danny Orr hit a two-run homer, and
Bennett Speicher pitched four solid innings prior to a rain delay as the UMBC Baseball team dropped a 9-3 decision to visiting Georgetown on Tuesday night. The game was called after one pitch in the bottom of the ninth due to rain
Orr's blast gave UMBC a 2-1 lead in the third, but the Georgetown bats would awaken after a 53 minute rain delay in the bottom of the fourth as they exploded for six runs in the fifth to pull away.
Speicher allowed just one earned run on three hits with three strike outs and no walks.
Grant Teschendorf made his first appearance since February 22, 2025 and struck out two in a scoreless appearance.
Cole Koonce worked two hitless and scoreless innings of relief, striking out three.
Joe Lomangino tripled and scored on a
Luke Buscaglia single in the seventh, while
Dylan Melton,
Danny Wyatt,
Ehi Okojie,
Jacob Bagania and
Kyle Eddington also had hits for the Dawgs.
