BALTIMORE -- The UMBC Men's Swimming program won every event en route to a dominant 215-42 win over visiting Frostburg State on Friday afternoon.
Freshmen standouts
Quinn Marchionini and
Braden Weise led the way by winning all three events they each competed in .Â
The meet started with Marchionini,
Sean Neils,
Stefano Perez and
Axel Mori winning the 200 medley relay in 1:31.02.
Garrett Jones (1:53.54),
Luke Eskola (1:55.96),
Matthew Rotunda (1:59.16) and
Matthew Johnson (2:00.91) took the top four spots in the 200 IM, followed by
Matthew So (1:39.48),
Felipe Taveira Lira (1:40.53) and
Christian Castro (1:46.04) sweeping the podium in the 200 free.
Nick Bracall (52.46),
Michael Truong (53.58) and
Nick Zaharescu (54.87) went 1-2-3 in the 100 back, while Weise (56.80),
Thyn Van Lier (56.82) and
Elliot Fielder (57.43) did the same in the 100 breaststroke. Marchionini (22.68), Perez (22.69) and
Tyler Kay (23.33) swept the podium in the 50 fly, and Neils (20.63),
Andrew McEachern (22.13) then won the gold and silver in the 50 free.
Mori (46.81) and Truong (48.95) went 1-2 in the 100 free, Perez (23.99) and So (24.26) did the same in the 50 back, and then Van Lier (26.19) Neils (26.59), Rotunda (27.23) and Johnson (27.86) went 1-4 in the 50 breaststroke.
Weise then won the 100 fly in 50.69, with McEachern (52.25), Fielder (54.25) and Zaharescu (55.57) finishing right behind him. Marchionini took gold in the 100 iM in 52.07, with Mori (52.31), Taveira Lira (52.47) and Kay (52.82) taking spots 2-4 behind him.
The meet concluded with the 200 free relay team of Neils, Perez, So and Weise taking gold in 1:23.48.
The Retrievers close out the dual meet portion of the season at Towson next Saturday.
