Javitt Keeps Men's Soccer Unbeaten; Retrievers Earn Tie at William & Mary

Williamsburg, Va. – Graduate student Andres Javitt scored his first goal for UMBC, resulting in a 1-1 draw against William & Mary on Saturday afternoon at Martin Family Stadium.

With this result, UMBC remains unbeaten at 4-0-1, while William & Mary is still searching for their first win, sitting at 0-2-2.

Javitt struck a powerful free kick from 20 yards out in the 61st minute, sending the ball into the upper left corner of the net and beating William & Mary goalkeeper Ryan Eapen.

The Tribe had taken a 1-0 lead with just 1:24 remaining in the first half, thanks to forward Sam Delgado. Midfielder Diogo Branco carried the ball down the left side and found Delgado unmarked in the box, allowing him to score successfully against UMBC goalkeeper Emigdio Tormo Lopez.

In the match, UMBC outshot William & Mary 12-7 and earned three corner kicks. Tormo Lopez made two saves, while Eapen recorded four saves for the Tribe.

Junior forward Brady Geho and Javitt each fired four shots during the game.

UMBC will host Old Dominion on Friday evening at Retriever Soccer Park.
