  • UMBC won the UMBC/Navy Invitational last weekend with victories over Niagara and Howard.
  • Junior forward Brady Geho was named the MVP after scoring three goals along with an assist. He was also named America East Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
  • Emigdio Tormo Lopez, Matteo Samori, Jojo Ocran, Yigit Kilic, and Shawn Shvartshtein were also named to the All-Tournament Team
  • Geho scored just thirty-eight seconds into the match, and the host Retrievers went on to a 1-0 victory against the Howard Bison at Retriever Soccer Park on Monday evening to remain undefeated at 4-0.
  • UMBC completely dominated the contest, firing 22 shots compared to just four by the visitors. The Retrievers created all kinds of scoring opportunities but were unable to give themselves any breathing room all evening.
  • Howard had one quality opportunity with 35:50 remaining in the contest when forward Daniil Kaban received a through ball near the right sideline on UMBC's end of the field.  Tormo Lopez was 25 yards off his line and managed to deflect Kaban's shot with an open net behind him.
  • Geho played a pivotal role in leading the UMBC men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over the Niagara Purple Eagles last Friday evening at Retriever Soccer Park.
  • Geho converted two penalty kicks and provided an assist during the match.
  • The Retrievers are 4-0 for the first time since the 2022 season. The squad went 5-0-1 to open that campaign and finished 10-6-2 overall.
  • Tormo Lopez leads the circuit with 16 saves and has yielded just two goals in four contests.
  • Geho leads the league in goals (3) and points (7).
  • UMBC is ranked third in the United Soccer Coaches Northeast Region after the first vote of the season.
About William & Mary
  • The Tribe gave a spirited effort against a tough Rutgers squad on Monday in Williamsburg, falling to the Scarlet Knights 4-1. The visitors owned the first three goals of the match, scoring all of them in the first 22 minutes. Hamilton Howes answered for W&M, scoring off a corner and a rebound from an Alex Garrison shot in the 42nd minute. Rutgers added their final insurance goal in the 64th minute. Ryan Eapen made some great saves for the Tribe against the Scarlet Knights' offensive pressure. He collected a total of seven stops on the evening.
  • W&M has found the back of the net once in each of its first three matches with each being scored by a different player. Aidan Morrison provided the Tribe with a second half equalizer in the 1-1 draw at Navy, while Webb Kosich scored in the CAA opener at Campbell last Friday. Howes became the third different Green & Gold player to find the back of the net in 2025 against Rutgers.
  • Similarly to the scoring stats, the Tribe has had four different players earn all four assists so far this season. Diogo Branco, Gabe Ruitenberg, Sam Delgado and Alex Garrison have each earned helpers so far for the Green and Gold in 2025. The point for Garrison against Rutgers was his first career point as a freshman.
  • Ryan Eapen's seven saves on Monday for the Tribe were not of the garden variety. The junior made several sprawling saves against the Scarlet Knights. The seven stops are the second most of his career.
 All-Time Series History
  • UMBC meets W&M for the first time since 2014.
  • The Tribe is 4-0-2 in the previous six meetings against the Retrievers.
  • The last time UMBC traveled to Williamsburg was for an NCAA Tournament match in 2010. The Tribe advanced 4-3 on penalty kicks in what was a scoreless match.
