Men's Lacrosse Welcomes UMass Lowell on Friday Afternoon

  • UMBC dropped a 12-7 decision against the Bryant Bulldogs in an America East Conference contest last Saturday afternoon at Beirne Stadium.  
  • Senior midfielder Josh Tang scored his first two goals of the season, and classmate Jordan Galloway contributed a goal and an assist. Senior midfielder Trey Fleece recorded a team-high three caused turnovers. 
  • Galloway is second in the league in points per game (3.43) and is fifth in goals per game (2.00).  
  • Connor Chick is seventh in the conference with 1.71 goals per game.  
  • Dante Marinello is third in the league in caused turnovers per game (1.57) while Dylan Sharpe is fourth (1.57). 
  • Connor McMahon leads the circuit with 11.33 saves per game and is third in the conference in goals against average (10.51).  
  • Corey Myers also slots in the AE Top-10 (9th) in goals (1.57). 
  • Alex Steers ranks fifth (.554) in the AE in face off percentage and is sixth in ground balls per game (4.86). 
  • Trey Fleece is seventh in the conference with 4.00 ground balls per game. 
  • UMBC is second in the country in clearing percentage (.914). 
  • The Dawgs are second in the league with a .739 penalty-killing percentage. 

Series History

  • UMBC is 7-2 all-time against UMass Lowell and have won four straight in the series. 
  • The Retrievers coasted to a 21-5 victory last season in Lowell, Massachusetts. Josh Tang and Allen Hockenberry scored three goals each.  

About the River Hawks

  • Sophomore Johnny Soi scored two goals, as the UMass Lowell men's lacrosse team (3-6, 0-2 AE) fell to the UAlbany Great Danes (3-7, 1-2 AE), 17-6, on Saturday afternoon. The River Hawks have lost five straight games. 
  • Soi, who added two ground balls to his stat sheet, was one of six River Hawks to record a point on the day. Freshman Danny Burke finished with a goal and an assist, graduate student Garrett Murphy and sophomore Colby Frigon each added a goal. Sophomore Maverick Chedel chipped in with the first goal of his career, while freshman Griffin Sumwalt tallied an assist. 
  • Freshman Danny Burke leads the offense, totaling 13 goals and 10 assists, to rank first on the team with 23 points.
  • Behind him, Murphy totals 19 points on 13 goals and six assists, while Soi paces the squad with 16 goals.
  • Riley Lawhorn has added 15 goals and has a pair of assists. 
  • On defense, freshman Jack Jimenez sits first on the leaderboard for the River Hawks with eight caused turnovers, sophomore Owen Fitzgerald totals five, with sophomores Hayden Almeida and Josh Adey, and freshman Miles Kempski ranking tied for third with four.
  • Sophomore Justin Alexander, who leads the team with 101 faceoff wins on 176 attempts, also has a team-best 51 ground balls collected. 
  • In net, freshman AJ True tallies 84 saves through his first eight career games.
