Little Falls, NJ --
Leewood Molessa and
Danny Orr each homered, but the UMBC Baseball team dropped an 11-3 decision to host NJIT on Sunday.
Molessa's two-run homer gave UMBC a brief 2-1 lead in the third, Orr followed two batters later with a solo homer to extend the lead, but the Highlanders scored three in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead for good. Only three of NJIT's 11 runs were earned.
Jesiah Carpenter and
Nick Pratt also had hits for the Dawgs, while
Nick Remy (3.0 innings) and
Sam Bell (1.0) made scoreless appearances out of the bullpen.
The Retrievers step out of non-conference play next weekend with a three game set against Georgetown. Friday's game will be at Alumni Field, while the remaining two games of the series will be in D.C.
