Men's Lacrosse Hosts Beltway Rival Towson on Friday Night

  • Through the first couple of weeks, UMBC is the only team which is undefeated in the America East Conference.
  • UMBC has a pair of five-goal scorers in the young season: senior midfielder Jordan Galloway has five goals and two assists while junior attack Connor Chick stands with five goals and one assist.  Freshman midfielder Xander Maxwell is the team leader in assists with three, adding a goal.
  • Galloway now has 61 career goals and 82 points to lead the current crop of Retrievers.
  • Connor McMahon has a 6.00 goals allowed average and a 62.5% save rate through the first two games. McMahon was named the America East Goalie of the Week on Monday.
  • Sophomore Dylan Sharpe has caused five turnovers and leads the conference at 2.50 per game.
  • Junior Alex Steers has taken 39-of-41 faceoffs for UMBC so far, winning 74.4%. He ranks second on the circuit.
About the Tigers
  • Towson, from the Coastal Athletic Association, has fallen in its first four games, last a 11-6 defeat at home to Saint Joseph's on Feb. 22. 
  • The Tigers plays a very tough non-conference schedule, having played two teams currently ranked in the top-20 thus far in Johns Hopkins (7-USILA, 6-IL Media) and Syracuse (11/11).  The Tigers are set to play another top-20 team in non-con play when Towson takes on Virginia (18/19) in Houston on Mar. 8.
  • Ronan Fitzpatrick leads Towson with nine goals on the season.
  • Chop Gallagher has a team-high 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists)
  • Mikey Weisshaar (6 goals, 3 assists) was honored as the USA Lacrosse Preseason Midfielder of the Year.  He adds this honor along with being named a Preseason First Team All-American by each USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse.
  •  The junior midfielder was Towson's leading goal-scorer last year with 42, adding 19 assists.  He earned at least a hat trick in eight games in 2024.
