King Reaches 1,000 Points in Road Loss at George Washington

WASHINGTON - Jah'Likai King reached 1,000 career collegiate points on Wednesday evening in an 89-52 road loss to George Washington. 

King needed four points to reach 1,000 for his career, reaching the milestone 48 seconds into the second half with a layup off an Ace Valentine assist. King scored 934 points in two seasons at New Haven before transferring to UMBC. The junior scored a team-high 11 points and grabbed five rebounds in the loss. 

DJ Armstrong Jr. and Josh Odunowo each had eight points for the Retrievers, with Odunowo grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. After returning from injury on Sunday, Odunowo played his 100th career collegiate contest on Wednesday evening. Valentine recently crossed the 200-career assist threshold and added five more in tonight's contest. 

The Revolutionaries continue an impressive start to the season, moving to 5-0. Reigning A-10 Co-Player of the Week Rafael Castro had 13 points and 15 rebounds to lead George Washington. Luke Hunger (13 points, 10 rebounds) added a double-double off the bench. 

UMBC hosts Notre Dame of Maryland on Monday evening at 6 p.m.. It will be Dollar Dog Night at the 'Peake, while Athletics will also be collecting canned food items in collaboration with Retriever Essentials. Every non-perishable food item donated will get patrons $1 off concessions with a maximum of $5 off per person.
