UMBC Athletics Launches Retriever Club

BALTIMORE – Director of Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation Tiffany D. Tucker and UMBC Athletics are excited to announce the launch of the Retriever Club.

The Retriever Club is the official engagement and fundraising arm of UMBC Athletics, with membership providing resources that directly benefit our nearly 400 student-athletes in critical areas such as academic services, recruiting, operations, nutrition, mental health, and physical well-being.

"The Retriever Club provides an opportunity for fans, alumni, and families to connect with UMBC Athletics through fundraising and engagement," said Tucker.

While the state budget supports the basic operational needs of our team, annual gifts to UMBC Athletics provide the foundation needed to enhance the student-athlete experience. Consistent support keeps UMBC's programs ready to compete and succeed every season.

Areas to support include sport-specific giving, donations to the UMBC Athletics General Fund, and Endowment Funds.

Sport-Specific Giving - Our sport-specific team funds allow alumni, parents, friends, and fans to give back to the team they feel most connected to and directly impact each team's ability to compete at the highest level.

UMBC Athletics General Fund - The UMBC Athletics General Fund is designed to provide the UMBC Athletics Department with the necessary funds to enhance all areas of the student-athlete experience. These funds provide unrestricted annual support for all 17 Division I varsity sports and nearly 400 student-athletes.

Endowment Funds - These endowment funds to UMBC Athletics provide lasting support for team development, student-athlete scholarships, or coaching excellence. A portion of the annual income from these investments is used for the immediate needs of the department, while the remaining funds are reinvested to ensure indefinite support.

Your gift to any of the above automatically makes you a member of the Retriever Club and provides exclusive benefits. Your membership begins as soon as you make your gift and runs until the end of the fiscal year (June 30). Donors must renew their support each fiscal year to maintain membership.

"Your support is crucial to the success, current and future health, and growth of UMBC Athletics," said Tucker. "Thanks for all of your continued support of our programs, and remember, It's A Great Day To Be A Retriever!".
