UMBC, Under Armour Extend Partnership

BALTIMORE - After more than a decade of partnership, the UMBC Athletics department has entered into a multi-year renewal of its alliance with Under Armour, keeping the Baltimore-based brand as the official outfitter of the Retrievers. This exciting continuation underscores both organizations' steadfast commitment to supporting every student-athlete throughout their college journey.

Under Armour has proudly served as UMBC Athletics' exclusive outfitter since 2012, and will continue to deliver premium training and game-day footwear, apparel, and equipment for all 17 Retriever athletic teams. With this renewed pact, the partnership expands beyond varsity sports, now bringing top-tier Under Armour gear to club and intramural athletes throughout the University's Department of Recreation and Club Sports. Together, UA and UMBC are dedicated to elevating and celebrating every Retriever, empowering more athletes than ever before to unleash their full potential and compete for conference championships and national accolades.

"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Under Armour," said Tiffany D. Tucker, UMBC's Director of Athletics & Physical Education. "UA is deeply connected to Baltimore as its corporate home, and we are Baltimore's college team. Our student-athletes will benefit from custom-designed gear tailored to their needs, while UMBC fans can look forward to exclusive apparel that lets them showcase their Retriever pride like never before."

"Under Armour is proud to extend its partnership with UMBC and continue investing in the next generation of athletes," said Todd Locklear, Under Armour Director of Collegiate Division. "With our shared roots in Baltimore, we're excited to continue supporting Retriever excellence and expand access to Under Armour products across the UMBC community."

Last month, Under Armour announced the launch of the inaugural 410 Invitational, a new college basketball tournament featuring four local programs: UMBC, Loyola University Maryland, Morgan State University, and Towson University. Built into the 2026-27 collegiate basketball schedule, it is designed to celebrate Baltimore-area hoops and create a differentiated experience for Baltimore's collegiate student-athletes.

Planned as a multi-year event, the 410 Invitational will bring together men's and women's teams from each school in a rotating tournament format, with Towson hosting the championship round this year. The inaugural 2026 tournament will kick off on Thursday, November 12, with the men's games of Loyola at Towson and Morgan State at UMBC. On the women's side, the opening-round matchups will take place on Friday, November 13, with Towson playing at Loyola and Morgan State at UMBC.

More than a tournament, the invitational will create an elevated experience for participating student-athletes and coaches, with programming to take place at Under Armour's global headquarters on the Baltimore Peninsula. Under Armour will also host a media day on Wednesday, October 28, where local media will have the chance to hear from the athletic directors and coaches from each participating school.
