Dawg Bytes
  • UMBC looks to stop a five-game losing streak on Saturday evening against UNH. It's the Retrievers first five-game slide since the 2016 season when they dropped six straight.
  • The Retrievers are now 3-3 at Retriever Soccer Park this season with only one more home game remaining on the regular-season schedule after Saturday's match versus UNH.
  • UMBC will honor returning members of the 2010 UMBC men's soccer team at halftime. The 2010 UMBC men's soccer team became just the second team in program history to compete in the NCAA Division I Championships. The squad went 12-4-4 overall and were 5-1-2 in the America East Conference. They advanced to the NCAA Second Round after defeating #10 Princeton, 2-1.
  • In their most recent outing, the Dawgs gave the No. 5 Bryant Bulldogs all they could handle, but ultimately lost 2-1 in an America East Conference match on Saturday evening at Retriever Soccer Park.
  • After trailing 2-0 with less than two minutes remaining, the Retrievers nearly pulled off a miraculous comeback in the final moments of the game.
  • Freshman midfielder Simon Vujinovic brought the Dawgs within a goal with 1:54 left on the clock. Following a turnover in the right corner, sophomore forward Matteo Samori delivered a pass into the center of the box for junior forward Brady Geho. Geho controlled the ball and redirected it to Vujinovic, who was positioned at the top of the box. Vujinovic unleashed a shot that deflected off a Bryant defender and found its way into the lower right corner of the goal.
  • UMBC had two more excellent chances to even the score over the final 90 seconds but were unlucky as the visitors held on.
  • Vujinovic was named the America East Rookie of the Week this past Monday after his stellar performance against Bryant.
  • Geho is eighth in the league in points (.80 per game).
  • Senior goalie Emigdio Tormo-Lopez ranks fourth in the conference with a 1.000 goals against average and is 5th with a .773 save percentage.
