UMBC Athletics Institutes Clear Bag Policy

BALTIMORE - Starting next month at men's and women's basketball contests, UMBC will implement a Clear Bag Policy at Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena. The clear bag policy will enhance the safety and entry efficiency for all participants and spectators. 
 
BAG POLICY
 
Fans will only be able to carry the following style and size bags into the venue. All bags are subject to search. 
  • Clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bags that do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
  • Small clutch bags, measuring 4.5" x 6.5" with or without a handle or strap
  • Diaper bags will be approved with the accompaniment of the child
  • Accommodations for persons with disabilities, approving medical bags that exclusively contain medically necessary items, medical equipment, and lactation supplies
  • All other bags will not be permitted
    • Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to: purses, backpacks, drawstring bags that are not clear, briefcases, coolers, hip packs, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, and binocular cases 
  • Guests are encouraged to return unauthorized items to their vehicles. The University of Maryland, Baltimore County cannot safeguard items that are not permitted into the venue.
For fans without bags, "No Bag Lines" will exist at each entrance. UMBC-branded clear bags will be available for purchase at the UMBC Bookstore and at the entrance to games. 

Starting with the 2025-26 basketball season, the UMBC Clear Bag Policy will also encompass the following teams' events at their home venue: women's soccer, men's soccer, women's volleyball, women's lacrosse, and men's lacrosse.
