Men's Soccer Shines On Senior Night; Blast Binghamton 4-0 at RSP

BALTIMORE - The UMBC men's soccer team secured a dominant 4-0 victory against the Binghamton Bearcats on Friday evening at Retriever Soccer Park.

Junior forward Brady Geho netted two goals, while graduate student Branden Johns and senior Kofi Amoah each provided two assists to drive the team's offense. Junior Yigit Kilic and senior Ricky Schissler also contributed by scoring goals.

With this win, UMBC improved its record to 6-6-3 overall and 2-3-1 in conference play, moving into a tie for fifth place in the America East standings with UMass Lowell, with one game remaining in the regular season.

Kilic opened the scoring in the 29th minute, marking his first game-winning goal as a Retriever. Johns started the play by finding Amoah on the right flank. Amoah then delivered a precise pass into the box, allowing Kilic to score from point-blank range, beating Bearcats' goalkeeper Jack Root (two saves). Schissler extended the lead to 2-0 just over ten minutes into the second half with a shot from a challenging angle. Johns sent a through ball to him on the right side of the box, and Schissler managed to squeeze the shot past Root and the near post.

Geho, who has hit the target four times over the last three contests, added two insurance goals in the final 13:05 of the match. His first came after a setup by sophomore forward Matteo Samori, who delivered a cross in front of the net, following an assist from Amoah in the midfield. Geho then scored unassisted after capitalizing on a loose ball from a turnover, bringing his team-leading goal tally to seven for the season.

UMBC outshot Binghamton 14-7, with a commanding 6-0 edge in shots on goal. The Retrievers had all eight corner kicks in the first half and finished with an 8-4 advantage in total corners.

Binghamton has now been held scoreless for six consecutive matches, dropping their record to 4-12 overall and 0-6 in America East play.

The Dawgs will conclude their regular season at NJIT on Tuesday, November 4.
