BALTIMORE -- The UMBC Women's Basketball team dropped a 67-44 decision to visiting Vermont on Saturday afternoon. After a low-scoring second quarter, the Retrievers couldn't complete the comeback.
Jaden Walker led the offense with 13 points and four rebounds while
Jordon Lewis contributed 11 points and six rebounds.
Yasmin Ott came off the bench with eight points in 13 minutes.
Talia Davis had five rebounds in the loss.
How it Happened:
- Vermont opened with five points before Lewis made a layup, 5-2 Vermont.
- UMBC responded with a 8-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 12-7 UMBC.
- Lewis and Walker led the offense in the first quarter making it 15-13 UMBC.
- Vermont opened the second quarter with a 17-0 run to retake the lead, 27-15 Vermont.
- Ott scored the only points for the Retrievers in the second quarter to make it 32-17 Vermont at the end of the half.
- Vermont opened the second half with a jumper but the Catamounts continued to outscore UMBC 20-10 to make it 52-27 Vermont.
- The Catamounts would seal the victory in the fourth, and win 67-44
The Retrievers hit the road at Bryant for a Thursday evening game at 6pm and then at UMass Lowell on Saturday for a 1pm game. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
