Philadelphia, Pa. -- The UMBC Women's Swimming & Diving team traveled to La Salle and saw tons of success on Friday in its first meet since early December.
"Great effort by the Lady Dawgs today," said head coach
Matt Donovan. "We competed against a tough, well coached team and we fought every step of the way. I am extremely impressed with this team and how we keep raising the bar each week."
Kolby Reese had a strong day as she won the 500 free in 5:16.05 and took second in the 1000 free when out-touched a La Salle swimmer by .04 (10:50.82).
Bruna de Padua won the 1000 free in 10:39.41, while
Ashley Gutshall took first in the 50 free in 24.48.
Makaela Hill won the 100 free in 52.95, Gutshall took second in 54.24.
The 400 free relay team of de Padua, Gutshall, Hill and
Claire Oettinger took home gold in 3:33.71
On the diving side,
Alicia Buteau placed second in the 1 meter (241.80),
Ember Stennett finished second in the 3 meter with a score of 248.10.
The Retrievers will face George Washington over two days next weekend. First, they will host the Revolutionaries for Senior Day on Saturday at 1 p.m., before heading to D.C. on Sunday for a 10 a.m. start.
